Job summary

Excelitas Technologies Corp. is seeking a Coater Technician in our Boulder, CO facility to move optical components from cleaning operations to coating chambers and to perform cleaning and inspection of substrates and coated parts.

Responsibilities include loading parts, starting coating runs, and reading prints for surface quality and dimensions. Experience in a cleanroom and at least 2 years in process manufacturing are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend prints for determining specs on surface quality and substrate dimensions.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect and package optical components and substrates.

• Read prints to determine specs and packaging requirements.
• Train on or perform second check chamber start and report non-conforming material issues.

Coater Technician

We are currently seeking a Coater Technician who will be responsible for keeping optical components moving from cleaning operations to coating chamber operations. They will also perform cleaning and inspection of substrates and coated components.

Main responsibilities

• Cleans, inspects and measures more advanced/complex substrates to ensure quality.
• Packages optical components
• Sets up tooling
• Loads parts into chambers
• Starts coating runs
• May perform tooling fit checks/reviews
• Able to read and comprehend prints for determining specs on surface quality, substrate dimensions, arrow marking for side one and side two, packaging requirements
• May begin training and/or perform second check chamber start
• Understanding of non-conforming material and how to scrap material
• Understanding of substrate material
• Inspection of normal product
• Trained on ISO / mil / final inspection
• Raising tech issues with tooling, specs, process sheets, etc
• Understanding defect types
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Teamwork - works effectively within the team.
• Experience working in a cleanroom environment
• At least 2 years of work experience in a process manufacturing environment is desired

Pay Range: $21.00- $26.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Our facility in Boulder, Colorado, has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines. This facility specializes in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense.

This site offers capabilities that include substantial design and engineering resources, comprehensive optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology and an extensive in-house metrology lab.
