Job summary

A.O. Smith is seeking a Coater 1 for the first shift at our McBee, SC facility. This position involves setting up and monitoring thermal spray coating equipment, preparing parts and tools, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and preferably some manufacturing experience. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean work area, executing tests, and providing guidance to new employees.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Job description

We have an immediate need for a Coater 1 for First Shift in our McBee, SC facility. This position will be responsible for a number of job duties, including (but not limited to):

Responsibilities:

• Set up, change over, monitor, install and/or program thermal spray coating equipment for painting and/or glassing products;
• Obtain and prepare parts, equipment, tools and materials needed to complete tasks;
• Sand and paint components per required safety, quality and production specifications;
• Provide direction, training and/or guidance to new employees as required;
• Maintain and calibrate equipment, fixtures and tools per specifications;
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and organized condition and follow prescribed safety rules, quality requirements;
• Execute tests and trial coatings, etc. for development, implementation and process stability purposes;
• Store and properly identify finished units;
• Fill out paperwork related to production activity as required;
• Report problems with safety, quality, processes, equipment and materials to production lead or supervisor;
• Wear required PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, and any additional PPE required for task being performed);
• Perform other duties and operate machinery as assigned by Supervisor/Team Leader.
