Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Budd Lake, NJ, is seeking an experienced Inspector to load optics into fixtures, inspect surfaces under a microscope, and prepare substrates for coating. You will follow ISO procedures and ensure quality per customer drawings.

As part of a cleanroom environment, you will perform reflectivity tests, enter WO data into the MRP system, and support production scheduling and shipping readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and experience inspecting materials.
• Ability to see and handle small parts and operate a microscope.
• Willing to work in a cleanroom environment and handle chemicals safely.
• Experience with data entry and basic MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Load optics into fixtures, clean and inspect under a microscope.
• Determine if surface quality complies with drawings/specifications.
• Inspect and perform final cleaning per production schedule.
• Prepare optical substrates for thin film disposition.
• Load parts into coating chambers and follow ISO procedures.
• Unload coated crystals and inspect surface quality per standards.
• Perform reflectivity testing on spectrophotometers or lasers.
• Enter WO data into MRP system in preparation for shipment.

Job description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Load optics into fixtures; clean & inspect under a microscope
• Determine if surface quality is fully compliant to specific customer drawings/specifications
• Inspect and final clean per production schedule
• Preparation of optical substrates for thin film disposition
• Load parts into coating chambers
• Follow ISO procedures and policies
• Unload coated crystals from fixtures & inspect surface quality under a microscope per ANSI, Mil standard or ISO.
• Perform reflectivity testing on spectrophotometers or lasers based on product wavelengths
• Enter WO data into MRP system in preparation for shipment

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• 5+ years previous experience in material inspection
• Demonstrated ability to see and handle small parts
• Previous experience using a microscope
• Must be able to work on repetitive tasks
• Basic data entry skills
• Willing/able to work in a cleanroom environment, fully gowned
• Willing/able to work with minimal exposure to chemicals such as, methanol and isopropanol

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an optics manufacturing environment or similar technical training
• Some college in physics, chemistry, engineering and/or math
• Experience in optics cleaning and inspection
• Experience in optical coating technologies
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Accurate data entry skills MRP/ERP experience
