Job summary

Firelands Health in Sandusky, OH is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care services in the acute care setting. You will collaborate with physicians and the health team, assess patient needs, administer treatments, and document care efficiently.

Requirements include Ohio licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT), BLS and Code Pink certification (within 3 months), and at least six months in acute care. Excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Ohio Licensed Respiratory Care Professional; Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and Code Pink certification (must obtain Code Pink within three months of hire date).
• Minimum six months in an acute care hospital.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish a friendly and cooperative relationship with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Analytical ability to evaluate patient care technique, service, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory care procedures as defined under Section 4761 of The Ohio Revised Code as administered by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board.
• Maintains ongoing communication between respiratory care professionals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to foster continuity of care.
• Clarifies physician orders, assigns patient caregivers, prioritizes needs, assesses patient, plans care, evaluates plan, instructs patient/family, documents care, and collaborates with health team.
• Responds to and is responsible to all emergent and/or critical patients, maintaining airway and breathing.
• Administers treatments and delivers care for patients.
• Communicates patient information to caregivers and documents information.
• Serves as mentor/preceptor for allied health students in Respiratory Services.
• Bachelor’s prepared RRTs serve as technical consultants to assess competency.
• Licensed therapists may assume relief charge duties as needed.
