Job Description
- Performance Responsibilities:
- Serve as HS Varsity Head Swim Coach.
- Develop and execute an effective training program.
- Develop and train student-athletes to participate in competitive swimming.
- Monitor, motivate, supervise, and mentor student-athletes.
- Instruct/guidestudent-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
- Manage game day strategies and logistics.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
- Work cooperatively and in a timely manner, with SchoolAthletic Office and CPS District Athletics Department, in regard to all requests for information that might be periodically required.
- Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
- FollowDistrict Athletic Department Policy as outlined in Coaches Handbook and meetall criteria as outlined injob description.
- Meetall requirements set forth by the State Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Recognizethe need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, OHSAA.
- Scheduleand completea full season of contests including State tournament games..
- Beginpre-season practice on the first day permitted for that sport.
- Provideall applicable in-season and out-of-season training rules in writing prior to the start of the season.
- Followappropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
- Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
- Seta positive example at all times including the use of appropriatelanguage.
- Beappropriately dressed at all practices and games and developrespect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct at all times.
- Acceptand profitfrom constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
- Participatein clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
- Participatein School Events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
- Showphysical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and usegood judgment in decision-making.
- Be competent in techniques of the sport so that student-athletes respond positively.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
- Be well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport and look atways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques.
- Be innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
- Ensure that team is well prepared for opponents.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills/Essential Functions:
- Fundraising experience.
- Have a passion and dedication to inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:
- Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
- Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college.
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is required.
- Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check,State BCII Check, andFBI Fingerprint Background Check.
- Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupils Activity Permit (PAP).
- Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.
CONTRACT PROVISIONS:
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Supplemental Annual Limited
SALARY: Per Schedule E of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement
