Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City (The J) is hiring energetic Volleyball Coaches for our Fall Volleyball Skill Clinics. This part-time role involves teaching and coaching, as well as serving as a customer service point of contact for families.

The program emphasizes fun, safety and sportsmanship, with practices on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Ideal candidates have experience with children or in coaching/refereeing, knowledge of volleyball and its rules,

Qualifications

• Must have reliable transportation.

Job description

The J is hiring energetic Volleyball Coaches for our Fall Volleyball Skill Clinics. Our coaches serve as instructors and as a customer service point of contact. The J’s volleyball program emphasizes fun, safety and convenience and teaches the value of good sportsmanship. Experience as a coach/player/referee is preferred, but not mandatory.

Schedule

We are hiring reliable part-time staff to lead skill clinics on weekdays for 1st – 6th graders. Practices will be on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Games will be on Sunday afternoons.

Essential Functions

• Teach and coach essential volleyball skills
• Set-up equipment for each clinic
• Supervise children ages 7 to 13 years

Requirements

• Experience working with children preferred
• Experience as a coach/referee/player is preferred
• Knowledge of volleyball and its rules
• Able to work a flexible schedule
• Must have reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

• Constant standing, walking, talking, hearing, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
• Frequent repetitive motions to demonstrate and execute skills and exposure to a generally loud gymnasium environment.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of 25lbs, stooping/crouching, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders throughout the building and on the court.
