Job description

The Role (Plain English)

You coach movement, not just a sport. As a Multi‑Sport Coach, you lead structured classes and sessions across a variety of activities — basketball, volleyball, speed & agility, and general athletic development. Your job is to keep kids moving, improving, and confident in a high-energy, well‑run environment. You're expected to be adaptable, prepared, and actively engaged on the floor.

What You're Responsible For (Outcomes, Not Tasks)
  • High-quality sessions
  • Classes start on time and run with purpose
  • Kids stay active and engaged
  • Drills are clear, safe, and age-appropriate
  • Skill development
  • You teach fundamentals that transfer across sports
  • You give simple, effective cues (not lectures)
  • Kids leave better than they arrived
  • Safety & structure
  • Rules are enforced consistently
  • You manage group size and flow
  • You stop unsafe behavior immediately
  • Energy & presence
  • You bring positive, confident energy
  • You command attention without yelling
  • Parents feel comfortable leaving their kids with you
  • Team standards
  • You follow Sportyard programming and expectations
  • You communicate issues or needs clearly
  • You represent the brand professionally
Who This Role Is For

You'll thrive here if you:

  • Have experience coaching kids or leading group activities
  • Are comfortable teaching multiple sports or skills
  • Care more about fundamentals than ego
  • Can adapt on the fly while staying structured

Former athletes, PE teachers, camp counselors, and youth coaches tend to do well.

Requirements
  • Must be 18+
  • Prior youth coaching or group leadership experience
  • Comfortable coaching basketball, volleyball, and general athletic movement
  • CPR / First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and camps
Application Standards

We take our hiring process seriously and expect the same from applicants.

  • Please answer all application questions thoughtfully. Incomplete or generic responses will not move forward.
  • If selected for a one‑way video response, completion is required to continue in the process.

This helps us identify candidates who are prepared, detail‑oriented, and genuinely interested in the role.

Benefits
  • $40‑$50/hour, based on experience
  • Opportunities to coach camps, leagues, and specialty sessions
  • Clear growth path into Specialist or Lead Coach roles
  • Unlimited Sportyard membership
  • Join a team that values preparation, accountability, and energy — not just showing up
