West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking a dedicated Coach for the Girls Head Jr High Softball program at Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High School for the 2026/2027 school year. The role requires guiding student-athletes, planning practices, and overseeing participation in contests.

Candidates must hold Mason County Board of Education Professional Employee status or be certified through the WVSSAC-ASEP. The coach will work closely with the athletic director and principal to manage the program budget,

Qualifications

• Must hold Mason County Board of Education Professional Employee status or WVSSAC-ASEP certification.
• Experience coaching girls softball at junior high level preferred.
• Ability to plan practices, manage equipment, and supervise travel safety.

Responsabilités

• Train softball team students in skills needed for competition.
• Supervise players at practices, games, and travel.
• Enforce school rules and policies during supervision.
• Submit eligibility lists of participants to athletic director.
• Distribute and inventory equipment during the season.
• Prepare and submit equipment inventories at season end.
• Assist in budgeting for the softball program, secure officials, and schedule contests.
• Make recommendations for participant recognition and awards.
• Scout opposing teams to adapt game strategy.
• Attend conferences, banquets, clinics, tournaments, and professional meetings when possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Training softball team students in the skills needed to compete in softball.
• Supervising softball team students at practice sessions, softball games and during travel to and from scheduled events.
• Assuring that school rules and policies are enforced during the times the softball team students are under the employee?s supervision.
• Submitting to the athletic director an eligibility list of all participants in the softball program.
• Distributing softball equipment to softball team students and collecting it from them during the softball season.
• Preparing and submitting an inventory of equipment at the conclusion of the softball season.
• Working with the principal and athletic director in determining the budget for the softball program, in securing officials, and in scheduling competitions.
• Making recommendations for special recognition of program participants and selecting appropriate awards.
• Assuring that opposing teams are scrutinized through scouting to determine their capabilities, techniques, and strategies and determining the proper team approach to deal effectively with those capabilities, techniques and strategies.
• Attending conference meetings, award banquets, clinics, tournaments, and professional meetings whenever possible.
