Job description

Season begin date: March 2027
Season end date: May 2027
Compensation: $4,655 - $5,400 dependent upon verifiable experience

Location: Kalama High School, Kalama, WA
Benefits: This position is not eligible for health or retirement benefits

Reports to: Athletic Director

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ensure fields are playable for both practices and games. This will often require communication with the Port and Athletic Director
  • Must complete my247 and all WIAAtrainings through FinalForms and SafeSchools through the district prior to the beginning of the sport's season
  • Provide clear and consistent communication to all players, parents, and other coaches when there are schedule changes
  • Provides instruction to students in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises
  • Assesses students' skills, monitors students during competition and practice
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an injury
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials and spectators
  • Supervises and maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security
  • Distributes and collects equipment, supplies and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach
  • Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times
  • Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets,award nights, and pep assemblies
  • Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records
  • Models non discriminatory practices in all activities
  • Must complete SafeSchools training prior to the beginning of the sport's season
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Per WIAA - minimum age for head coach is 21 years of age, assistant coach is 19 years of age
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous Coaching experience preferred
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to communicate with high school students, parents, coaches and staff
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • CPR/First Aid card
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules. Ability to speak effectively to administration, staff, students and parents.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work independently and to communicate proactively

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Work is predominantly in athletic rooms and outside on athletic field(s). Temperature - normal climate, occasional adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
