Job summary

Poudre School District seeks an athletic coach to assist the Head Coach of a middle school team and support the program by teaching fundamentals and advanced skills while adhering to PSD guidelines.

You will help run practices, supervise student athletes, and communicate expectations to athletes and parents. The role emphasizes safety, discipline, and collaboration with the Athletic Director throughout the season.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous coaching experience strongly preferred.
• Must have expertise in fundamental skills, rules, and schemes of the sport.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required before coaching assignment begins.
• Complete required trainings: Concussion, Blood Borne Pathogens, Child Abuse and Reporting, Sexual Harassment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with practice sessions to develop sport skills and sportsmanship.
• Supervise student athletes before, during, and after events ensuring safety.
• Attend and monitor practices and games.
• Communicate expectations to athletes and parents regarding practice and games.
• Follow PSD guidelines.
• Assist with equipment inventory, maintenance, and storage.
• Coordinate locker-room supervision and extra practices.
• Report injuries and safety concerns to Head Coach and Athletic Director.
• Demonstrate fairness and adherence to district facility procedures.
• Attend work on time and perform other duties as assigned.

Rate of Pay: Pay for this position is determined by the Athletic Coaching Stipend Schedule based on paid years of experience up to 5 years.

Salary stipend range for external coaches is between $272-$2,961 per season.

Salary stipend range for internal coaches is between $272-$3,701 per season.

Work calendar days: Athletic Season

SUMMARY:

Assist the Head Coach of a middle school athletic team and support the development of the athletic program by teaching fundamentals and advanced skills of the sport while following Poudre School District guidelines.

JOB TASKS:

• Assist the head coach with practice sessions to best develop sport skills and sportsmanship with student athletes in the sport.
• Help supervise student athletes prior to, during, and after all school sanctioned events; ensure student safety at all times and make sure student athletes are equipped for safety.
• Attend and monitor practices and games.
• Assist with communicating to athletes and parents student athlete expectations including practice schedules and games, as well as academic performance, respect, commitment, dedication, and sportsmanship.
• Follow all Poudre School District guidelines.
• Assist with inventory and security of equipment and supplies.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, locker-room supervision, and extra practices.
• Communicate discipline procedures and problems, safety concerns and all student injuries requiring emergency medical services to school Head Coach and Athletic Director.
• Demonstrate fairness and consistency in all decisions and judgments related to the sport participants.
• Adhere to district guidelines for building use and field access, including following procedures for reservations, access, and care of district facilities.
• Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous coaching experience in the sport strongly preferred
• Must have expertise in the fundamental skills, rules, and schemes pertaining to the sport
