Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in developing strategies and practice plans.

• Instruct athletes in sport techniques, rules, and fundamentals.
• Supervise athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and meetings.
• Monitor academic eligibility and provide support or referrals.
• Maintain records including participation, statistics, schedules, equipment inventories, and documentation.
• Promote the athletic program through community engagement and camps.
• Respond to inquiries from students, parents, staff, and community members.
• Attend meetings, training, and conferences related to coaching responsibilities.
• Support the head coach and staff in coordinating team activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Coach, Assistant

Position Overview

The Assistant Coach supports the athletic program by assisting with the design and implementation of team activities, instructing student athletes in sport fundamentals, supervising participants during practices and competitions, and promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and safe athletic participation.

The hours are as needed before and during the Basketball season.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in developing strategies and practice plans to prepare athletes for competition.
• Evaluate opposing teams’ strategies and performance to assist in preparing game plans.
• Assess student athletes’ skills and performance to determine team placement and provide constructive feedback.
• Instruct student athletes in sport techniques, rules, and fundamentals to support skill development and teamwork.
• Supervise athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and team meetings to ensure safety and compliance with program expectations.
• Monitor student athlete academic eligibility and provide support or referrals when needed.
• Maintain records including athlete participation, statistics, schedules, equipment inventories, and required documentation.
• Evaluate facilities and equipment for potential hazards and report safety concerns.
• Promote the athletic program through community engagement, camps, and off-season activities.
• Respond to inquiries from students, parents, school personnel, and community members regarding the program.
• Attend meetings, training sessions, and conferences related to coaching responsibilities.
• Support the head coach and athletic program staff in coordinating team activities and program operations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
