Boone County Schools is seeking a sports coach to guide students toward high skill levels and a strong sense of discipline and self-esteem. The role emphasizes safe practice, supervision, and adherence to athletic policies with collaboration from school staff.

The position requires coaching knowledge, youth mentorship, and effective communication with students, families, and faculty, along with appropriate certifications and eligibility standards.

Formación

• Holds a valid Kentucky teaching certificate; or Holds a valid Emergency Certificate for Substitute Teaching under the qualifications outlined in 16 KAR 2:120 Sec. 2 (7)(b); or
• Holds a Bachelor's degree or higher; or Have a minimum of 64 semester hours and be 21 years of age; or Have a high school diploma (or its equivalent), be age 21 or over and completed all KHSAA Board of Control prescribed electives outlined in KHSAA Bylaw 25
• Have current certification of CPR course including Adult and Child certifications, AED use, and First Aid Training, from a college/university-approved program or accrediting agency
• Have successfully completed the Sports Safety Course as outlined in KRS 160.445
• Has prior coaching experience or exhibits evidence of knowledge in the sport assigned
• Has the ability to work well with students
• Has the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, parents, and the community

Responsabilidades

• Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved
• Plan and schedule with the athletic director (with principal approval) a regular program of practice for each season including summer practices and camps
• Assist the athletic director in scheduling all interscholastic contests in the sport involved
• Prepare bids and recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate
• Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork
• Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present
• Enforce the established performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the assigned sport
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establish penalties for breaches
• Develop an annual-budget request for the sport and administer the budget according to policies
• Evaluate all assistant coaches and make recommendations
• Participate in those functions described in the regular teacher job description
• Oversee proper maintenance and care of athletic equipment
• Maintain file of practice schedules to document skill/knowledge
• Submit purchase orders for review and approval
• Obtain advanced approval from the principal for fund raising activities
• Monitor and be responsible for student fund raising activities related to drama program
• Have all students under supervision of certified personnel at all times at after school programs
• Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned by supervisor
• Summer practices and camps are only applicable to certain sports

• Has prior coaching experience or exhibits evidence of knowledge in the sport assigned
• Has the ability to work well with students
• Has the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, parents, and the community

JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, and an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop an annual-budget request for the sport, in cooperation with the principal and athletic director and administer the annual budget for the sport according to established policies and procedures
• Evaluate all assistant coaches who are responsible to him/her and make recommendation to the principal and the athletic director
• Participate in those functions and activities as described in the regular teacher job description
• Oversee the proper maintenance and care of athletic equipment
• Maintain file of practice schedules to document the teacher of proper skills/knowledge
• Submit purchase orders to athletic director for review and approval
• Obtain advanced approval from the principal for all fund raising activities
• Monitor and be responsible for all student fund raising activities related to the drama program
• Have all students under supervision of certified personnel at all times at approved after school programs
• Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor

Summer practices and camps are only applicable to certain sports
