Engineering Co-op engineer opportunity for the Fall of 2027 is available on the AES Ohio Transmission Engineering Team.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • The successful candidate should be a student pursuing a four-year degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • An academic standing of Sophomore status or higher is preferred.
  • Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a strong academic background, exceptional attention to detail, and organization and team collaboration skills.
  • Experience using design software such as PLS-CADD or SolidWorks and Microsoft Office applications - especially Excel - is also preferred.
PRIMARY DUTIES

The Transmission Engineering team collaborates with many areas of the Company, including Substation Engineering, P&C Engineering, operations, construction, planning and project management. Accordingly, the Co-op may be assigned to various departments during their internship position with the possibility of shadowing and learning from other teams. This internship will broaden knowledge and experience in the field of engineering by providing opportunities to:

  • Design high voltage transmission line facilities in support of AES Ohio driven system improvements, reliability projects and system load growth.
  • Participate in field visits to verify topography, identify obstacles and meet with construction crews to address engineering concerns and solicit design feedback.
  • Update discrepancies between prints/schematics, databases and system models

The Intern may be expected to complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
