Job summary

Ampersand Biomedicines in Boston is seeking a creative and resourceful student with a strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry to join our protein sciences team. You will perform cell culture, protein expression, purification, conjugation and analytics, cloning and plasmid preparation.

This hands-on laboratory role supports antibody discovery and bi-specific antibody engineering, with documentation in an electronic lab notebook (ELN) and collaboration across scientists to drive

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field at Northeastern University.
  • Biology/biochemistry lab experience in academic or industry settings is a plus.
  • Experience with protein expression and purification is a plus.
  • Experience with antibody conjugation is a plus.
  • Experience with protein characterization with HPLC is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain mammalian cell culture lines.
  • Perform transient transfections and affinity-based protein purifications.
  • Execute assays such as BLI (quantitation, binding kinetic, epitope binning), SPR and other characterization methods like SDS-PAGE and analytical HPLC (SEC, HIC).
  • Conduct molecular biology tasks such as PCR, plasmid purification, and sequence analysis.
  • Execute antibody conjugation experiments to support in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Support antibody discovery and bi-specific antibody engineering efforts.
  • Communicate results & maintain accurate records using an electronic lab notebook (ELN).

The Role

We are seeking a creative and resourceful student with a strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry to work with the scientists on our protein sciences team. They will be responsible for performing a range of techniques including cell culture, protein expression, purification, conjugation and analytics, cloning and plasmid preparation.

This is a hands-on, laboratory position at a small and rapidly growing biotech start-up.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain mammalian cell culture lines

Required Professional Experience & Qualifications

Preferred Professional Experience & Qualifications
  • Biology/biochemistry lab experience in academic or industry settings is a plus
  • Experience with protein expression and purification is a plus
  • Experience with antibody conjugation is a plus
  • Experience with protein characterization with HPLC is a plus

The salary range for this role is $25.00 - $40.00 hourly. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
