Job summary

Dominion Energy invites students enrolled at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College to join a hands-on internship supporting maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical and instrumentation equipment at our generating units across Cope, Columbia, and Wateree SC.

You'll work with skilled I&C journeymen, use CAD/drawings, and gain experience operating in a power plant environment, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions. This role emphasizes safety and practical learning.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled as a student at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in a program leading to an associate degree.
• Must be studying Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, or General Technology (Mechatronics).
• Have at least a 3.0 overall GPA and expect graduation in 2027 or 2028.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment at the generating unit.
• Work with qualified I&C journeymen and Operations personnel.
• Utilize drawings, CAD systems, and prints to support maintenance tasks.
• Be prepared for climbing, bending, lifting, and standing; outdoor work in inclement weather.

Job Summary

• Assisting with maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment of the generating unit at the assigned location. Includes Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controllers, smart field devices, and Distributed Control System (DCS) controls.
• Working with qualified I&C journeymen experienced in the maintenance of the power plant equipment.
• Utilizing drawings, prints, CAD systems, etc.
• Working with Operations personnel to understand and assist with the operation of power plant equipment.
• Working in a physical environment involving climbing, bending and lifting heavy power plant equipment, and standing for prolonged periods of time.
• Occasionally working outdoors and during inclement weather.

Locations include Cope, Columbia, and Wateree SC

Hourly Rate:

$22.00 - $24.00

The hourly rate listed is the rate we anticipate paying for this position. If a range is listed, the actual hourly rate offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate's degree type, academic major, and/or school classification (e.g., sophomore, junior, senior).
