Job summary

Schaeffler invites you to join its Summer 2027 Co-op Mechanical Engineering program in Troy, MI. You will contribute to engine or chassis projects, collaborating with engineers on challenging tasks and gaining practical experience with cutting-edge motion technology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication ability (written & verbal).
• Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results.
• Assertive approach to solving problems.
• Ability to prioritize.
• The ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods, and lift and move thirty pounds.
• 3D CAD modeling and software preferred.
• Mechanical hobbyist preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Co-op will be assigned an engineering project aligned with Schaeffler’s current research and development initiatives within the Engine or Chassis departments. In addition, the Co-op will collaborate closely with the engineering team on a daily basis, contributing to a range of innovative and technically challenging projects.
• Key responsibilities may include but not limited to:
• Component or system level mechanical testing
• Component teardown analysis – physical teardown, inspection pictures, documentation
• Interfacing teams – effectively communicate with these cross functional teams in order to effectively complete assigned tasks
• Need to be responsible, able to work independently, and open to instruction
• S/he will be given developmental opportunities through tasks such as projects, job-rotation, hands-on training, and exposure to Schaeffler's technological processes
