Job summary

Baxter Healthcare is seeking a Cooperative (Co‑op) candidate to assist in prototype development and testing for new medical products in our Skaneateles, NY facility. You will contribute to build and validate test systems, document results, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure quality and timely delivery.

The role emphasizes learning, self‑management, and the ability to work under moderate pressure while supporting Baxter’s mission to Save and Sustain Lives.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills required.
• Ability to understand specification documents and test protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building and operating prototypes and test systems for new products.
• Create prototypes, test protocols, and bench test setups.
• Document and maintain test records per QA procedures.
• Participate in cross‑functional meetings and design reviews.
• Troubleshoot issues and participate in root cause investigations.

What you'll be doing

• Support the project team by participating and assisting in the building and operation of prototypes and test systems for the introduction of new products at the module, integration and system levels under the direction of a Test Engineer.
• Create and complete prototypes, test protocols, and bench test setups.
• Create and validate test systems needed for design verification.
• Document and maintain test records consistent with formal test processes and Quality Management System policies and procedures.
• Participate in cross‑functional team meetings and design reviews.
• Troubleshoot problems and participate in root cause investigations.

What you'll bring

• In progress with a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or related fields.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Enjoy working in a team setting.

• Ability to understand specification documents.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to use test equipment and implement detailed test protocols.
• Enjoy multi‑tasking under moderate pressure.

• Have some experience creating detailed, clear and complete documentation and records.
• First time Co‑ops as well as candidates with experience will be considered.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a pay rate of $26.00 - $28.00 an hour.
