Job summary

Teknor Apex’s Information Technology team seeks a Co-op AI Engineer for Spring 2027 to support development, testing, and improvement of internal AI applications in an enterprise manufacturing setting. This internship emphasizes prompt development, evaluation, documentation, and requirements gathering, collaborating with IT teammates.

You will gain exposure to production AI tools, assist with evaluating outputs, and translate user needs into clear requirements while learning how AI is developed,

Responsibilities

• Support prompt development, testing, and evaluation for internal AI applications and use cases.
• Assist with testing AI applications to assess functionality, accuracy, consistency, and overall user experience.
• Document testing results, application functionality, processes, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support intake and evaluation of new AI use cases submitted by teams across the organization.
• Assist with gathering and documenting business and technical requirements for AI projects.
• Work with IT team to understand how AI solutions are developed, tested, deployed, and maintained in an enterprise environment.
• Gain exposure to multiple production AI tools and applications used across Teknor Apex.
• Assist with evaluating AI outputs and identifying opportunities to improve prompts, workflows, and application performance.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to understand user needs and translate them into clear requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and other learning opportunities during the internship.
• Complete other AI, data, and technology-related projects as assigned.

Role Overview

This internship focuses on prompt development and evaluation, application testing, documentation, and requirements gathering. You will work alongside IT team members to support how AI solutions are developed, tested, deployed, and maintained across multiple internal tools and production applications.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Python proficiency demonstrated through coursework, projects, internships, or other hands‑on experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, and emerging technologies.
• Ability to learn new technologies and technical concepts quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred

• Coursework, research, or personal projects involving large language models (LLMs), machine learning, or generative AI.
