High School Graduate or GED
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and Certified Peer Support Specialist or be willing to participate in an intensive training to become certified.
Have a co-occurring disorder(s) and have received treatment from a public or private provider. Have personal experience in navigating complex treatment services.

The person that may be thebest fit for this position will have personal experiences with both mentalillness and substance use disorders and established a period of recovery of atleast 2 years. The Peer Recovery Specialistprovides services that support, mentor, and assist Individuals served toachieve community inclusion, participation, independence, recovery, resiliencyand/or productivity. Peers areindividuals who have a unique background and skill level from their experiencein using services and supports to achieve their personal goals of communitymembership, independence, and productivity.Peers have a special ability to gain trust and respect of otherindividuals served based on shared experience and perspectives with symptomsrelated to diagnoses and with planning and negotiating human servicessystems. This position is directlyresponsible to the Supervisor of Adult MI Services or other supervisory staffas designated by the Chief Executive Officer.
