Houchens Food Group, Inc. is seeking a Co-Manager for our Grocery department. This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the Store Manager and requires open availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The position involves supervising staff, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring adherence to company policies, safety, and sanitation programs to maintain store standards.

Qualifications

Co- Manager

• Department: Grocery Job Status: Full Time
• FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Store Manager
• Grade/Level: High School or Equivalent Amount of Travel Required: No travel required
• Work Schedule: Open availability preferred; shift work including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
• Positions Supervised: Meat Manager, Produce Manager, Front End/Office, Sales Associates, Cashiers, Meat or Produce clerks

Assists store manager in ensuring that the store operates at the standards set forth by the company. Operates a store that provides positive earnings for the company. Directly supervise sales workers in store. Duties may include management functions, such as purchasing, budgeting, accounting, and personnel work, in addition to supervisory duties. Also directs effective safety, security and sanitation programs in compliance with company policy and procedure. Provides supportive leadership to all store employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist the Store Manager with the daily operation and overall performance of the store.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally.
• Supervise, coach, and support employees to ensure productivity and company standards are met.
• Assign daily tasks and ensure employees are properly trained and held accountable.
• Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, payroll, and other personnel responsibilities.
• Monitor sales, inventory, ordering, merchandising, and product availability.
• Maintain accurate cash handling, deposits, records, and other financial procedures.
• Ensure the store is clean, organized, properly stocked, and safely maintained.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, food safety, sanitation, security, and safety procedures.
• Assist with receiving, vendor check-in, pricing, markdowns, and inventory control.
• Open and close the store as scheduled and ensure proper completion of daily closing procedures.
• Support the Store Manager in achieving sales, profit, labor, and operational goals.
• Lead by example and promote a positive, professional, customer-focused work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the store.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the store. Must be able to regularly lift and carry merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. May occasionally be required to climb ladders or step stools, push/pull carts and equipment, and work in refrigerated or freezer areas.
