Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics in Boston is seeking a senior leader to define and drive nonclinical safety strategies for CNS small-molecule programs across discovery to early clinical development. The role leads outsourcing, integrates datasets, and mentors junior toxicology staff while coordinating with biology, DMPK, pathology, pharmacology, clinical, regulatory, and CMC teams.

Qualifications

PhD in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Neuroscience, or related field.
Board certification (DABT or equivalent) is preferred.
13+ years in pharma/biotech R&D with nonclinical and regulatory toxicology.
Strong CNS drug development and cross-functional program leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Define and execute nonclinical safety strategies for CNS programs across discovery to clinical development.
Develop safety strategies for new CNS targets, lead optimization programs, and platform technologies.
Identify gaps and implement risk mitigation plans with external experts as needed.
Stay current on literature and regulatory guidance for CNS toxicology.
Design, oversee, and interpret toxicology studies (CNS endpoints/models).
Lead outsourcing for nonclinical toxicology studies; ensure quality and timeliness.
Manage CRO studies; review reports and coordinate finalization.
Integrate toxicology, pathology, DMPK, and pharmacology data to inform decisions.
Prepare toxicology sections of regulatory documents and respond to health authorities.
Collaborate cross-functionally and mentor entry-level toxicology staff.
