Responsibilities

• Staff supervision: supervise, train, evaluate, and hire cafeteria workers, assistants, and cashiers.
• Food & inventory management: oversee food prep, menu execution, ordering, and year-end inventory.
• Safety & sanitation: ensure health regulations compliance and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas.
• Financial & record keeping: maintain meal production records and coordinate deposits with the bookkeeper.
• Cashiering/record keeping: account for funds and reconcile transactions.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM ASSISTANT

REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Program Manager or designee JOB GOAL: To serve students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Staff Supervision: Supervise, train, evaluate, and recommend candidates for hire for cafeteria workers, assistants, and cashiers. Food & Inventory Management: Oversee food preparation, menu execution, ordering of central office supplies, direct ordering of authorized exceptions (e.g., milk, fresh produce, bread), and end-of-year inventory filing. Safety & Sanitation: Ensure strict adherence to health regulations, supervise comprehensive kitchen/dining area cleaning, and monitor equipment safety Financial & Record Keeping: Maintain meal production records, coordinate deposits/revenues with the school bookkeeper/principal, and utilize required point-of-service technology. Additional Duties:

1. Demonstrate support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities
2. 2. Food preparation a. Knows daily menu requirements b. Follows daily food preparation schedule c. Follows recipes d. Knows when to begin food preparation e. Knows how to store prepared food before serving f. Prepares assigned dishes
3. Food storage a. Assures that food is stored at appropriate temperatures b. Maintains a first in/first out (FIFO) procedure for moving food from storage c. Maintains a record of food taken from storage
4. Serving line a. Serves students and staff in a friendly manner b. Serves prescribed portions to all customers c. Serves a neat and attractive tray d. Maintains a clean serving line e. Protects and replenishes food between serving periods
5. Personal responsibilities a. Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene b. Follows assignments given by manager c. Maintains a friendly attitude toward co-workers and customers d. Completes work assignments on time e. Reports to work on time as scheduled and clocks in and out on time f. Accepts duties assigned by manager g. Follows approved dress code
6. Cleaning responsibilities a. Maintains a clean work area b. Performs duties such as serving and cleaning of tables, counters, and furnishings in dining area c. Assumes dish room responsibilities when assigned d. Properly cleans equipment, floors, storage areas, bathrooms, walls, furniture, and windows when assigned Removes garbage and sanitizes can Cleans and hangs mops
7. Cashiering/Record Keeping a. Accounts for funds collected from students, staff, and visitors b. Accounts for meals and reconciles all transactions to funds collected and meals served
8. Special Events: Prepares food as assigned for special events such as banquets, luncheons, box lunches, etc. Completes set-up, service, and clean-up for special events
9. Follows CNP HACCP Standard Operating Procedures and employee handbook guidelines

Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws 11.
