Job summary

Children's National in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Development Assistant to partner with fundraising staff, manage donor inquiries, and support event logistics for major gifts and donor relations. Responsibilities

  • Partner with a development officer(s) to support all fundraising initiatives.
  • The Development Assistant is expected to independently solve problems, manage donor issues and respond to questions from donors or other Hospital/Foundation staff in the absence of the Director.
  • Provide clerical/administrative support for a professional fundraiser(s).
  • Provide logistical and creative support for special event planning and execution, including community based fundraising events and online donor giving.
  • Identify and cultivate low end donors and solicit gifts for the program.
  • Support major gift correspondence, including thank you letters, stewardship letters and small mail campaigns.
  • Work with data: data entry into donor database, execute queries and evaluate data in donor reports.
  • Independently manage writing assignments including letters, stewardship reports and briefs.

Pay Range: $45,926.40 - $76,523.20

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual’s base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual’s combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications. Children's National is committed to providing a fair and competitive total rewards package to each of our employees. This base salary range does not include our comprehensive benefits package or any additional compensation for which this position may be eligible.

Responsibilities

Functional Accountabilities
  • Partner with Development officer(s) to plan and execute fundraising events, including chair dedications, donor lunches, stewardship events, donor-sponsored lectures etc.
  • Contact appropriate vendors, participate in creative work, arrange for small vendor contracts, pay invoices, and track expenses.
  • Support the development officer in planning trustee campaign council, including logistical support, material preparation, entry of notes and data into Raiser's Edge and tracking attendance and outcomes.
  • Provide necessary support for a development visit, including briefing, drafting and communication, calendar coordination, requesting research as needed, and helping prepare solicitation materials, including proposals.
System Organization
  • Manage calendars for Director(s) and team.
  • Maintain filing systems as needed by Director(s).
  • Develop system to manage workflow for development officers, including recording trip reports and donor contacts in Raiser's Edge.
  • Develop systems to properly execute gift transmittals and file copies in communal and departmental files.
  • Plan protocol and mechanism to generate systematic acknowledgement letters for major donors.
  • Partner with Donor Relations Manager to plan and execute selected CNMC Donor recognition and stewardship events.
Quality Control
  • Read and evaluate donor correspondence for appropriate action.
  • Evaluate donor letters for restrictive language.
  • Evaluate data generated from Raiser's Edge for accuracy and then independently follow-through to correct errors.
