Job summary

Cat-i Glass is seeking a CNC Operator in South Elgin, IL to program, operate, and set up a vertical CNC mill. The role requires reading blueprints and employing measuring equipment to ensure tolerances are met.

Essential duties include writing Mastercam programs, selecting tools, adjusting feeds/speeds, and performing inspections. Strong experience with Mastercam and G-code is required.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 5 years of experience programming in MasterCAM for vertical milling machines.
• Experience with G-code and AutoCAD is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Write programs in Fusion/Icam to accomplish machining operations per required sequence and dimensions.
• Select, align, and secure fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
• Set controls for speed, feed, and depth; adjust offsets and offsets as needed.
• Inspect parts using measuring tools and document results.
• Maintain tool offsets and modify programs as needed.
• Report to work as scheduled and safety compliant.

The CNC Operator is responsible for programming, operating, and setting up the vertical CNC mill. Must be able to perform all tasks in safe and responsible manner.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for writing programs in Fusion/Icam to accomplish various machining operations as per the required sequence and dimensions of the job
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, and depth and angel of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media; Facilitate work order paper flow in accordance with company standards
• Inspection of parts is required
• Conduct CNC and Robot training as assigned
• Must have tooling and insert change experience
• Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Must have experience with measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, optical comparators.
• Experience with vertical measuring machines a plus.
• Make tool offsets
• Call up and modify existing and new programs
• Adjust work coordinates
• Prepare tools and fixturing
• Machine Tending as needed
• Must be able to report to work as scheduled and on time
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and/or Competencies:

• Mastercam, G-code and AutoCAD experience preferred
• A minimum of 4 Years’ experience setting up CNC machining centers

Education/Experience:
