Job summary

Qualdoc is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with a solid background in structural steel fabrication. You will operate CNC machinery, read technical drawings, perform quality checks, and use various hand and power tools to produce precise steel components.

You will review blueprints and work orders, adjust machines for accuracy, and document production data in Global Shop. A strong eye for detail and the ability to work independently are essential for success in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

  • Structural steel fabrication experience required.
  • Experience operating CNC equipment, especially combo mill/lathe and drill line.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and work orders.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Familiar with Global Shop or similar ERP system.
  • Detail-oriented with commitment to quality.
  • Good problem-solving and ability to work independently.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Location: Ashland, VA
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: 1st Shift
Starting Pay: $20/hour, higher depending on experience

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with a background in structural steel fabrication. This position involves operating CNC machinery, working from technical drawings, performing quality checks, and using various hand and power tools to produce accurate steel components.

What You'll Do
  • Operate and set up CNC equipment used in structural steel production, including combination mill/lathe and drill line machines
  • Review blueprints, schematics, and work orders before and during production
  • Make machine adjustments to maintain proper dimensions, accuracy, and performance
  • Use hand and power tools for machining and assembly work
  • Inspect completed parts to verify they meet design and structural specifications
  • Identify equipment problems and perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Enter production information and maintain accurate records using Global Shop (ERP)
  • Work with other team members to maintain a productive and safe shop environment
Requirements
  • Structural steel fabrication experience is required
  • Previous experience operating CNC equipment, particularly combination mill/lathe and drill line machines
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and work orders
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Strong computer skills; experience with Global Shop or a similar ERP system is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods
