Job description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Set-Up Operator to join our client, a precision manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling equipment, performing quality inspections, and ensuring production runs efficiently while meeting tight tolerances.

Location: Wilton, NH

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (overtime as needed)

Pay: $25-$31/hr

Type: Contract-to-Hire

What You'll Do:
  • Set up and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines for precision-machined components.
  • Install and adjust tooling, tool holders, and machine offsets for production jobs.
  • Verify part quality using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and microscopes.
  • Make tooling and offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy throughout production.
  • Prepare raw materials, including cutting and deburring stock as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings.
  • Support process improvements by identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Monitor tooling inventory and report replacement or purchasing needs.
  • Perform deburring and other secondary finishing operations.
What We're Looking For:
  • 5+ years of CNC setup and machining experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
  • Experience with CNC-controlled equipment and troubleshooting machining processes.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, inspection methods, and precision measuring tools.
  • Experience machining small, high-tolerance components.
  • Manual machining experience, including lathe and milling operations.
  • Ability to inspect and work with small parts under magnification.
  • Strong shop math and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Surface grinding experience is a plus.
