Job summary

Jarvis Signs in Madison, TN is seeking a CNC Programmer to prepare accurate, cut-ready production files for our CNC routers. This role focuses on programming CAM files from approved sign designs, ensuring production-ready outputs and efficient material usage.

Responsibilities include creating toolpaths, nesting, and optimizing cuts across aluminum, PVC, acrylic, and other substrates while coordinating with the production team to meet fabrication requirements and tight tolerances.

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing CNC production files and programming toolpaths using CAM/CNC software.
  • Ability to read and interpret sign designs and artwork and translate them into accurate CNC production files.
  • Working knowledge of sign fabrication methods, materials, and assembly processes.
  • Understanding of how fabricated components fit together—not simply how to create a cut path.
  • Knowledge of nesting and material optimization.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work within tight tolerances.
  • Comfortable with shop math, measurements, dimensions, and material calculations.
  • Experience in a sign shop, cabinet shop, custom fabrication shop, or similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Previous CNC router operating experience is a plus but is not required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Convert approved sign designs and artwork into accurate, production-ready CNC files.
  • Create and program toolpaths, including cut order, nesting, tabs, offsets, and bit selection.
  • Determine appropriate cutting strategies and settings based on materials such as aluminum, PVC, acrylic, ACM, and other sign substrates.
  • Nest parts efficiently across sheets to maximize material yield and reduce waste.
  • Prepare clean, organized files for CNC operators with any special routing or production instructions clearly identified.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure CNC files account for real-world fabrication and assembly requirements, including fastening, layering, LEDs, raceways, and other sign components.
  • Review and correct file issues involving fit, tolerances, toolpaths, or other concerns identified during production.
  • Maintain organized and consistent production files for current and repeat projects.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve CNC file preparation, material usage, and overall production efficiency.

Description

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Jarvis Signs is seeking aCNC Programmer to prepare accurate, cut-ready production files for our CNC routers. This position takes approved sign designs and converts them into efficient CAM files that are ready for the CNC operator to run.

This is primarily a programming and production file preparation role—not a CNC machine operator position. A strong understanding of sign fabrication is important because the files must account for how components will actually be cut, assembled, layered, illuminated, and installed.

What You’ll Do
  • Convert approved sign designs and artwork into accurate, production-ready CNC files.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience preparing CNC production files and programming toolpaths using VCarve, EnRoute, Aspire, or similar CAM/CNC software.
What Makes You Successful
  • You think beyond the file and understand how the finished parts will be fabricated and assembled.
  • You catch potential production issues before a file reaches the CNC operator.
  • You pay close attention to measurements, tolerances, material usage, and job specifications.
  • You stay organized while managing multiple production files and deadlines.
  • You communicate well with designers, CNC operators, and production team members when questions or issues arise
What Success Looks Like

The goal is simple: the CNC operator receives files that run correctly the first time. Files are accurate, efficiently nested, clearly organized, and programmed so the finished components fit and assemble the way they were designed.

Benefits Include:
