Position Description:

The CNC Programmer – Mill develops, optimizes, and supports CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling operations. This position works closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure safe, efficient production of precision aerospace components while meeting customer, AS9100, and company requirements.

The successful candidate will possess advanced knowledge of CNC milling operations, machining processes, CAD/CAM software, tooling strategies, and GD&T interpretation. This individual will work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Customers, and Suppliers to support operational excellence, product quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, generate, validate, and maintain CMM and VCMM programs for aerospace components.
  • Develop, generate, validate, and maintain CNC milling programs utilizing Mastercam or approved CAM software.
  • Create setup sheets, tooling lists, work instructions, and support manufacturing documentation.
  • Interpret engineering prints, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Optimize machining strategies, tooling selections, and cutting parameters to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Support machinists during setup, prove-outs, first-piece approvals, and production runs.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixture, and CNC program issues.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to ensure manufacturability and conformance to customer requirements.
  • Review and maintain program revision control and manufacturing documentation.
  • Evaluate opportunities to reduce cycle times and improve repeatability.
  • Support root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist in determining appropriate machining methods and manufacturing processes for complex components.
  • Validate first article and prototype production processes.
  • Support customer audits, internal audits, and quality initiatives as required.
  • Promote compliance with company safety policies, quality standards, and aerospace industry requirements.
  • Complete additional duties and projects assigned.

Requirements:
Qualifications and Competency Requirements:
Experience & Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in manufacturing technology, Machining Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC milling and programming experience required.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Mastercam or comparable CAM software required.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, G-code programming, tooling, fixturing, and cutting parameters.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience with Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar CNC milling equipment preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.

  • Requires effective communication with employees, customers, suppliers, and management through in-person discussions, phone conversations, and electronic communication.
  • Must be able to visually inspect tooling, setups, and machined components for conformance to specifications.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, machine noise, coolant, cutting fluids, metal chips, and varying shop-floor conditions.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear, while in production areas.
  • Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials, tooling, fixtures, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Occasional overtime, extended hours, or weekend work may be required to support production demands.
Work Schedule:

The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday; however, hours may vary based on production demands and business needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
