Job summary

Precision Castparts seeks a Level Two CNC Programmer to work on CNC mills, lathes, Makino mills, and Swiss turning centers. You will read blueprints, write and test cutting paths, and adjust settings for optimal production while ensuring quality.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and CNC Machinists, troubleshoot programs, and train others as needed. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in the field; an HS diploma/GED with CNC Machining, GD&T, and Shop Math certifications is

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in industry or related field required.
  • High school diploma or GED; CNC Machining, GD&T, and Shop Math certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test cutting paths and program CNC machines.
  • Adjust machine paths or settings to optimize production while preserving quality.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to determine tools required to cut materials and program machines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming problems as they arise.
  • Collaborate with CNC Machinists for programming needs.
  • Load and check programming and setup.
  • Train other employees on operation and setup of machines as necessary.

Job description

Level Two CNC Programmers will perform a variety of duties to include set up in the operation of computer numerical control type of machine tools such as CNC mills, lathes, Makino mills, Swiss turning centers, etc. A strong understanding of speeds/feeds of tools and their effects on manufacturing cycle times with various metals is needed. Programmers are responsible for reading and interpreting design blueprints, programming the machines, adjusting the machine settings for desired specifications, and working closely with operators and set up machinist of all levels.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Use computer software to write and test cutting paths and program CNC machines accordingly
  • Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
  • Partners with Manufacturing Engineers to determine tools required to cut materials and program machines accordingly
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with programs as they arise
  • Partners with CNC Machinists for programming needs
  • Loads and checks programming and setup
  • Train other employees on operation and set up of machines as necessary
Required Skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to partner with manufacturing personnel
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Ability to read programming instructions, technical manuals, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write programming code using Mastercam for 4 & 5 axis machinery and proficient in Solidworks a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to use all inspection equipment
Mathematical Skills

Proficient in basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of advanced computer use. Applicant should be familiar with CNC machining methods.

Required Experience

7+ year minimum experience in industry or related field.

Level Of Education

High school diploma/GED equivalent required. CNC Machining, Blueprint Reading, GD&T, Shop Math certifications preferred.
