Primetals Technologies USA, LLC in Decatur, AL, is seeking a CNC Programmer II for 1st shift to design and program CNC operations onsite.

You will read blueprints, set up tooling, and run machines to produce metal components with emphasis on tolerances and quality. A strong machining/measuring background and forklift/crane certification is preferred. Drug screen required.

Qualifications

• Crane/Forklift Certification.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and design/modify CNC programs, set up the machine and tooling, and operate the CNC to produce/modify metal components.
• Machining is performed to ordinary tolerances and work is diversified.
• Inspect workpieces and measure to verify accuracy of machine operation.
• Read blueprints/job orders to determine product specs and tooling instructions.
• Select, install, and adjust alignment of drills, cutters, dies, guides and holding devices.
• Set feed rates, cutting speeds, depths and angles by moving controls or mounting components.
• Requires knowledge of metals and machining measurements.
• Monitor for malfunctions and perform daily maintenance checks.
• Keep work area clean and perform housekeeping.
• Other work may be assigned by management.

Our Decatur, AL facility is currently seeking to fill a 1st shift CNC Programmer II position.

Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.

Classification and base pay rate will be dependent upon skillset and prior experience. Duties of the CNC Programmer will be performed in-house and on location at customer site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for interpreting blueprints, designing or modifying existing CNC programs, setting up the machine and tooling, and operating the CNC machine to produce or modify a metal component.
• Work is diversified and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances
• Inspects workpieces for defects, and measures workpieces to determine the accuracy of machine operation using rules, templates, or other measuring instruments.
• Reads blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and to plan operational sequences.
• Selects, installs, and adjusts alignment of drills, cutters, dies, guides and holding devices using templates, measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Moves controls or mounts gears, cams or templates in machines to set feed rates, cutting speeds, depths and angles.
• Requires advanced knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining process.
• Monitors work to ensure that machine is not malfunctioning.
• Perform daily maintenance check of machine.
• Performs housekeeping of machine and work area.
• Other work may be assigned at Management’s discretion.

TOOLS USED:

Computer Numerical Control machines, Inside and Outside Micrometers, Depth Micrometer, Calipers, Bore Gages, other General Hand Tools

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Work is performed at ground level and above.

Frequent: Walking, standing, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of twenty (20) lbs or less.

Occasional: Climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting and carrying of fifty (50) – thirty (30) lbs.
