Job summary

HiFyve in Glen Burnie, MD is seeking a senior CNC Programmer for the 1st shift. This hands-on role covers the full shop with mill/mill-turn equipment, including live tooling, and you will turn parts from print to verified NC code in Mastercam 2025.

You will optimize setups, select tooling and feeds, verify programs in simulations, and support continuous improvement on cycle times and accuracy. ITAR/compliance requires US person status.

Qualifications

• 5+ years CNC programming with Mastercam 2025 or newer.
• 2-3 axis milling programming incl. pocketing, contouring, drilling/tapping.
• Lathe/mill-turn with live tooling and sub-spindle transfer a strong plus.
• 3 2 positional multi-axis programming including WCS strategy and offsets.
• Solid understanding of G-code and ability to read and edit posted code.
• Experience with aluminum, stainless and alloy steels materials.

Responsibilities

• Program parts in Mastercam 2025 across 2-3 axis mills, mill-turn and 3 2 positional multi-axis work.
• Read engineering prints with GD&T and translate tolerance and finish requirements into toolpaths, tooling, and workholding decisions.
• Plan workholding and setup sequencing to control cost, cycle time and error.
• Select tooling, feeds and speeds based on material and operation.
• Verify programs in solid and machine simulations before release to production floor.
• Maintain and troubleshoot post processors and control definitions; fix posted-code issues.
• Write setup sheets: tool lists, work offsets, and plane assignments.
• Support first-article runs and troubleshoot in-process issues (chatter, finish, transfer marks).
• Drive cycle-time reduction and improve repeatability on production jobs.

Schedule: 1st Shift, 7a-3:30p Monday-Friday

Pay: $40-$57/hour depending on experience

ITAR site: U.S. person status required

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A precision machining company serving the aerospace and defense sector is adding a senior CNC Programmer to its Glen Burnie shop. This is a hands‑on programming seat covering the full shop: 2-3 axis mills, mill‑turn and live‑tooling lathes, and 3 2 indexed multi‑axis mills, all programmed in Mastercam 2025. You take parts from print to verified, production‑ready NC code, and you are the go‑to person when a setup gets complicated.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Program parts in Mastercam 2025 across 2-3 axis mill, lathe/mill‑turn (live tooling and sub‑spindle transfer) and 3 2 positional multi‑axis work, picking the right process for each part
• Read engineering prints including GD&T and turn tolerance and finish requirements into sound toolpath, tooling and workholding decisions
• Plan workholding and setup sequencing (multi‑setup mill parts, sub‑spindle transfer, indexed orientations) to control cost, cycle time and stacked location error
• Select tooling, feeds and speeds for the material and operation instead of relying on defaults
• Verify programs in solid and machine simulation (fixture, holder, turret and trunnion models) before release to the floor
• Maintain and troubleshoot post processors and control definitions; root‑cause posted‑code issues such as rotary axis output, canned‑cycle mismatches and offset errors
• Write clear setup sheets: tool lists, work offset and plane assignments, setup notes
• Support first‑article runs and troubleshoot in‑process issues (chatter, finish, thread fit, transfer marks)
• Drive cycle time reduction and repeatability on running production jobs

WHAT YOU NEED

• 5 years of CNC programming, hands‑on with Mastercam (2025 or recent versions)
• Proven 2-3 axis mill programming: pocketing, contouring, drilling/tapping, multi‑setup planning
• Proven lathe/mill‑turn programming: OD/ID turning, grooving, threading, live tooling/C‑axis; sub‑spindle transfer a strong plus
• Proven 3 2 positional multi‑axis programming: plane/WCS strategy, multi‑orientation work offsets, collision‑aware verification
• Working knowledge of G‑code and post structure; able to read, troubleshoot and hand‑edit posted code
• Solid feeds, speeds and tooling knowledge for aluminum, stainless and alloy steels
• Print reading with GD&T and machinist‑level shop math
• U.S. person status (ITAR)

Preferred:

• Fanuc, Siemens or Fanuc‑style control experience
• Training or mentoring junior programmers
• CMM and inspection familiarity
• Continuous simultaneous 5‑axis programming
