Job Summary
Plan machining by studying blueprints, materials, specifications and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Fabricate tools, jigs and fixtures to support production of parts from blueprint sketches and/or verbal instructions from engineers.
- Setup and program CNC mills and lathes.
- Detect and report unusual conditions and special problems immediately to Supervisor.
- Move materials, containers, and equipment during performance of duties or as directed.
- Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
- Recognize and report irregularities as to defective parts, equipment, work techniques and/or quality of workmanship.
- Diagnose and correct operating difficulties with assistance as needed. Perform daily minor maintenance duties relative to equipment used.
Job Skills & Abilities
- Ability to design and create fixtures, to be able to run the job.
- Calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Sets-up mills and lathes by installing tools, collets, indicating vices, appropriate fixturing, etc.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Be attentive to detail.
- Perform other duties as required or directed.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in CNC programming is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with manual mills and lathes.
- Demonstrated proficiency with inspection equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to make a program, set up a machine and run a part independently and proficiently on the CNC mill and lathe.
- Demonstrated ability to use manual mill and lathe.
- Familiarity with blueprints and inspection equipment.
- Ability to provide a completed part from raw material to finished component/assembly independently and proficiently.
- Mechanical aptitude.

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction) and maintain an understanding of the decimal and metric systems.
- Able to be flexible and respond to changing needs of the organization.

Pay Range: $25 to $35/hr DOE
