Job summary

Sonaca North America is seeking a CNC Programmer to support the shop floor with programs and documents for parts produced from various materials on 3-axis and sheet metal equipment. The role involves optimizing 3- and 5-axis NC programs and assisting with tool design, setup sheets, and production aids, while collaborating with operators to resolve programming issues.

The ideal candidate has a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience, strong G-code knowledge, proficiency in CAD/CAM

Qualifications

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years minimum programming in CAD/CAM software.
  • Familiarity with MasterCAM or Catia and sheet metal/MFG processes.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan production of 3-axis, 5-axis and sheet metal parts.
  • Determine saw length or sheet size and parts per setup.
  • Create and optimize tooling and NC programs.
  • Update repeat jobs to current engineering revision (3–5 axis, sheet metal).
  • Assist in creating shop drawings, setup sheets, tool lists and production aids.
  • Support CNC and sheet metal operators when program issues arise.

Assist the shop in problem solving and optimization of part programs. Assist Programmer II with updates on low to medium complexity 4 and 5 axis programs.Pay Range - $35 - $45 per hour DOEESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESPlanning for production of 3 axis, 5 Axis and sheet metal partsDetermine saw length or sheet sizeDetermine number of parts in a setup or sheetCreating and optimizing tooling needed to hold or form the partsCreating and optimizing NC programs for 3 axis, 5 axis and sheet metal partsUpdate repeat jobs to current internal standards and latest engineering revision (includes, 3, 4, and 5 axis and sheet metal) Assist in creating shop drawings, setup sheets, tool list, and other production aids as neededAssist CNC and sheet metal machine operators when program problems ariseAssist with tool and method testsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES2-year Technical Degree or equivalent relevant experience desired2-year minimum programming in a comparable CAD/CAM software or shop floor experience running the similar types of equipment as what will be programed is desiredMust be comfortable operating a computerGeneral knowledge of Excel.This position requires a good understanding of part holding, machine operation and G code as well as knowledge of advanced machining techniques.
