Job summary

Dover Precision Components in Antigo, WI, seeks an experienced CNC Programmer to write and optimize control programs for lathes, grinders and mills. You will analyze drawings, select tools, set speeds and feeds, and ensure parts are produced to blueprint specifications.

The role requires 5+ years of CNC/multi-axis programming, proficiency with Fanuc controls and G-codes, and the ability to design fixtures. Due to ITAR/UNNPI, US citizenship is required for this facility.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience programming CNC mills, lathes and multi-axis machines.
  • Proficiency with Fanuc programming controls.
  • Proficiency in Conversational programming and G-Codes.
  • Proficiency in Featurcam or other CAD/CAM programs for multi-axis machines is ideal.
  • Proficiency in reading micrometers, bore gauges and dial calipers.
  • Ability to design/recommend/manufacture fixturing for jobs.
  • Good understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances).

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes drawings, sketches and design data of parts to determine dimensions, configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates.
  • Analyzes routings during programming stage and updates processes to guarantee CNC machine tools are used to their fullest capability.
  • Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine parts.
  • Writes programs of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or direct numerical control data base to regulate movement of the machine along the cutting path.
  • Revises programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
  • Creates standard work documents for CNC machines regarding tooling and programs.
  • Makes improvements to setup times for tasks and contouring of complex shapes.
  • Evaluates completed designs to validate their functions and ensure they reduce time and cost for the client.
  • Monitors programs to ensure they follow blueprint instructions and safely complete the task.

Role

The CNC Programmer will write code to automate power-driven machines such as lathes, grinders and mills to cut and finish different materials. The programmer will plan numerical control programs to control contour path machining of metal parts on automatic machine tools. Our Antigo facility is under ITAR/UNNPI regulations; all candidates and hires for this role must be a US citizen.
