Job description

CNC Programmer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a manufacturer of temperature sensors, compression seal fittings, and cable and harness assemblies.

Position Summary

Develop and optimize CNC programs for precision machined parts. Working closely with machinists, manufacturing engineering, and quality, this position translates engineering requirements into safe, efficient machining processes that consistently meet dimensional and finish requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs from engineering drawings, solid models, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop machining sequences and select cutting tools, holders, workholding, speeds, feeds, and setup strategies.
  • Use CAD/CAM tools and appropriate simulation or verification methods to identify machining risks before release.
  • Support first-piece prove-outs, machine setups, troubleshooting, and program adjustments on the production floor.
  • Optimize toolpaths, cycle times, tool life, surface finish, and dimensional consistency.
  • Prepare setup sheets, tooling lists, program documentation, and operator instructions; maintain revision control.
  • Collaborate with quality personnel to address dimensional issues and verify that machining processes meet print requirements.
  • Assist with fixture concepts and provide feedback on design for manufacturability and recurring production issues.
Proposed Qualifications
  • Practical CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment, supported by machining or technical training.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to machining processes.
  • Working knowledge of G-code, M-code, machining principles, cutting tools, and workholding.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software, program verification, and shop-floor troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use precision inspection tools and communicate effectively with machinists and engineers.
Preferred Background

Experience with CNC turning and milling, tight-tolerance components, stainless steels or specialty alloys, and continuous improvement is preferred. Machine platforms, controls, axis requirements, and CAM software will be confirmed by the client.
