Shively Bros., Inc. is seeking a skilled Precision Machinist specializing in CNC Mill and Lathe programming and machining. You will program, set up, and operate CNC equipment to produce tight-tolerance parts per drawings.

Join a team focused on quality, safety, and efficiency in a climate-controlled shop. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of CNC experience, strong GD&T and measurement skills, and familiarity with Mastercam.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of CNC machining experience (Mill or Lathe).
  • Proficiency in G&M-code programming and editing at the machine.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills.
  • Experience with precision measuring tools and quality inspection processes.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software, Mastercam preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Program, edit and optimize CNC programs for Mill and/or Lathe operations; select tooling and offsets.
  • Set up machines with material, tooling, and fixtures; verify with blueprints and GD&T.
  • Operate CNC Mill/Lathe to manufacture precision components; monitor tolerances.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges.
  • Maintain production efficiency while upholding quality and safety standards.
  • Document parts and update headers and tooling information for team use.

Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Setup
  • Program, edit and optimize CNC programs for Mill and/or Lathe operations. Knowledge of G&M codes preferred
  • Set up machine including material, tooling selection, offsets and fixture alignment
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings accurately to produce complex parts
  • Select proper cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials
Machining & Production
  • Operate CNC Mill and/or Lathe to manufacture precision components
  • Download existing programs into the controls and make necessary adjustments to the programs
  • Update header and tooling information so the information is clear and accurate for others to use as well
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust as necessary to maintain tolerances
  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
  • Maintain production efficiency while ensuring adherence to quality standards
  • Inspect and document parts as required on inspection sheets, when required
Quality & Safety
  • Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust setups as needed, and ensure adherence to safety protocols throughout the manufacturing process
  • Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized area
  • Commitment to safety standards and quality assurance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Compensation
  • Pay Range: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on level of experience
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of CNC machining experience (Mill or Lathe specialization)
  • Proficiency in G&M-code programming and editing at the machine
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with precision measuring tools and quality inspection processes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Experience machining a variety of materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, plastics)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
  • Experience with CAD Cam Software, Mastercam preferred
  • Must have a good work ethic, dependable, great communications skills, positive team player, self-motivated, person of high integrity, shows initiative
  • Personal measuring equipment to use on the job, not required but preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Manual dexterity and attention to fine detail work
  • Be able to work 50 hrs a week, Monday - Friday
