Job summary

Proto Labs, Inc. is seeking a CNC Operator I to set up, operate, and monitor HAAS CNC machines for high-quality prototype and low-volume production parts. The role supports a fast-paced digital manufacturing environment, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to customer specifications.

The position runs on a 3pm–11pm shift and requires reading blueprints, measuring parts, and maintaining tooling. ITAR considerations apply; ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate HAAS CNC machine.

• Support and report issues to team lead/supervisor.
• Follow all processes and procedures during the shift, escalating problem areas to shift team lead/supervisor as appropriate.
• Ensure jobs are run in a timely manner to guarantee on-time delivery.
• Achieve quick turnaround of parts and accuracy within established guidelines.
• Complete operator PMs during the shift.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machining equipment to manufacture high-quality prototype and low‑volume production parts. This role supports Protolabs’ fast‑paced digital manufacturing environment by ensuring parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with customer specifications and quality standards.

Shift: 3pm to 11pm

Responsibilities

Physical Demands

Work Environment

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking. The majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing area exposed to machinery and noise; with eye protection and safety shoes required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
