Job summary

Lehigh Heavy Forge Corporation seeks an experienced CNC machinist to operate and program high-precision CNC machines in a busy shop. You will read blueprints, CAD models, and drawings, select tooling, and ensure parts meet exact specs.

You will measure with calipers, micrometers, and CMM, uphold GD&T standards, and collaborate on process improvements while maintaining a safe, organized work area and reporting issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of machining experience, preferably in a high-precision or military environment.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Proficient in operating and programming CNC machines.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
  • Understanding of GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Performs part processing per provided work instruction and/or verbal instruction.
  • Interprets drawing requirements.
  • Select and utilize appropriate cutting tools and work holding for various materials and machining processes.
  • Perform precise measurements and inspections to ensure parts meet stringent quality control standards.
  • Manages tooling and fixturing as required.
  • Reports faulty hardware, processes, and non-conformances to immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • May assist with developing new machining methods and tooling for complex parts.
  • Actively engage in and initiate continuous improvement activities.
  • Other duties assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Prepares and operates computer numerical control machines. Follows provided operational instructions for the machine and part processes . Responsible for the proper loading of parts and materials. Responsible for in-process inspections and may require finessing. Responsible for accurate entries into ERP system. Manufactures parts to required quantity. Maintains a properly 5S work area and supports machine maintenance as required. Responsible for providing relevant feedback timely and accurately to managers and machinists. Monitors machine operation and display readouts to detect malfunctions. Compares display data to specifications and notifies supervisor of machine malfunctions. Inspects and measures parts to verify conformance to specifications. May perform machine adjustments and maintenance. Adheres to facility and machine safety procedures, alerting manager of any safety concerns. Plans machining by studying work orders and work instructions. Interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances.

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in operating and programming CNC machines.
    • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
    • Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM).
    • Understanding of GD&T
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift heavy equipment and materials up to 50lbs
    • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms.
    • Capable of standing for long periods and working in various industrial settings (e.g., machine shops).
    • Ability to withstand loud noise environment.
