Job summary

Northeast Tool & Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Operator in Matthews, NC to produce aerospace components with precision and craftsmanship. You’ll run 5-axis mills, lathes, and Wire EDM, following blueprints and tolerances to ensure parts meet exact specifications.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED with 1+ years in a metal cutting shop.
Associate degree or higher preferred in machine tool technology or related field.
Experience with GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement.

Responsibilities

Operate CNC equipment (5-axis mills, lathes, Wire EDM) to produce precision metal components.
Follow blueprints, drawings, and tolerances to manufacture parts within required specs.
Set up and maintain tooling, offsets, recalibration, and monitor tool wear.
Inspect parts with precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy.
Monitor machine performance and adjust for out-of-tolerance conditions.
Perform deburring, cleaning, tapping, and countersinking as needed.
Load/unload materials and parts from machining centers.
Complete production documentation and maintain a clean 5S workspace.

Conveniently located in Matthews, NC, just outside Charlotte, Northeast Tool is seeking talented individuals for CNC Operator I & II opportunities across all shifts. In addition to competitive base pay, we offer a $1/hour premium for 2nd shift and a $2/hour premium for 3rd shift positions.

What You’ll Do

Operate CNC equipment, including 5-axis mills, mills, multi-axis mill-turns, lathes, and Wire EDM machines to produce precision metal components.
Follow blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions to manufacture parts within required dimensions and tolerances.
Set up and maintain tooling, including tool changes, offsets, recalibration, and monitoring tool wear.
Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments and digital measurement tools to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
Monitor machine performance, identify machining issues or out-of-tolerance conditions, and make adjustments or elevate concerns as needed.
Perform secondary operations such as deburring, cleaning, tapping, and countersinking.
Load and unload materials and completed parts from machining centers.
Complete required production documentation and maintain a clean, organized work area through 5S and preventive maintenance practices.

What We Are Looking For

High School Diploma/GED with 1+ years related experience in a metal cutting machine shop environment.
Equivalent combination of higher-level education and/or experience may be considered.
Experience with basic shop math, and familiarity with GD&T.
Basic understanding of blueprint reading and tolerances; able to use machine shop language to communicate effectively (i.e. reading decimal values in thousandths and tenths).
Demonstrable experience with measuring instruments (i.e. mic's, calipers) is required, with the ability to produce consistent, reliable, and repeatable measurements.
High aptitude for learning, and ability to follow adhered processes and procedures.

Even Better

Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, or two years of equivalent higher education strongly preferred; preference in machine tool technology or industrial manufacturing preferred.
Previous experience in an AS9100 Environment strongly preferred.
Previous experience with multi-axis machining preferred; DMG Mori, Haas, Heller, and/or Okuma experience strongly preferred.
Experience holding tight tolerances (from 2-tenths to 5-tenths).

Standard Hours

1st Shift: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
2nd Shift: Monday – Friday: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
3rd Shift: Monday – Friday: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
