Job summary

WIKA Group is seeking a skilled machinist/operator for on-site work in Georgia. You will study work orders, verify GD&T, and plan setups for lathes and mills, ensuring first-pass quality. Responsibilities include maintaining safety, logging production data, and assisting with repairs as needed.

The role requires 2–4 years of related experience or training, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work overtime, including weekends. Basic math and blueprint reading are essential.

Job description

Your activities

• Plans machining by studying work orders, Verifies blueprints, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
• Sets-up lathes/mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving first part.
• Sets-up lathes/mills by adjusting collets, three-jaw chucks, and/or vise jaws, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and stock pushers or pullers.
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to WIKA standards.
• Maintains specifications by observing CNC tools, sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Assist mechanics and machinists in repair work.
• Performs ancillary duties as required

Your profile

• 2-4 years previous experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• HSD or GED required
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
• Be able to work overtime if required. (including weekends)
• Basic skills in reading blueprints and basic math skills
• Basic knowledge of machine tool repair and maintenance preferred
• Fundamental knowledge of metal cutting and machining practices
