Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. is seeking a CNC Operator for 2nd shift to set up and run CNC lathe operations, read blueprints, and apply GD&T in a fast-paced shop.

You will optimize cycles, troubleshoot programs, document results, and collaborate with supervisors and quality teams while adhering to safety and timekeeping policies. Preferred experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathes, strong measurement and math skills, and the ability to stand for long periods in a non-climate shop.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Strong proficiency in basic math.
  • Ability to accurately document machining procedures.
  • Familiarity with metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling.
  • Experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathe machines.
  • Basic English reading/writing for logs and reports.
  • Ability to lift heavy items and stand for shift.
  • Willingness to work scheduled hours and timekeeping.
  • Non-climate shop environment experience and safety compliance.
  • Strong machining principles knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC Lathe machines for turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling.
  • Optimize setup times and machine utilization.
  • Read blueprints and route instructions.
  • Apply GD&T.
  • Troubleshoot programs and adjust as needed.
  • Follow in-process inspection protocols and report non-conformances.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and quality personnel to resolve issues.
  • Record and document shift issues.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance.

CNC Operator 2nd Shift (4 Day/10 Hour Shifts)

Are you ready to bring your CNC Machining skills to a team that values precision and innovation? At Martin Sprocket & Gear, we’re dedicated to producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence, and we're looking for skilled CNC Machine Operators like you!

What You’ll Do:
  • CNC Operation: Set up full production cycle and operate CNC Lathe machines for tasks such as turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling. (Hyundai, Mori, Yugi, HAAS)

Machine Optimization: Optimize setup times, improve productivity, maintain offsets, and maximize machine utilization.

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand blueprints and route instructions.
  • GD&T Application: Apply expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Program Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot programs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Inspection Process: Follow in-process part inspection protocols and report non-conformance issues to the Supervisor/Lead.
  • Collaborative Communication: Coordinate with superintendents, managers, production control, and quality personnel to resolve quality concerns.
  • Safety Compliance: Work safely and consistently wear required PPE throughout the shift.
  • Shift Documentation: Record and document issues for a seamless shift transition.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance checks and document findings.
What You'll Bring:
  • Measurement Proficiency: Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other required measuring tools.

  • Communication: Basic oral communication skills and the ability to read, comprehend, and complete logs and reports in English.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
  • Policy Compliance: Availability to work scheduled hours and adhere to all company policies, including timekeeping.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment and stand for an entire shift.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and general mechanical principles.
  • Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to be trained and a desire to learn new skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Reliability: Dependable with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Your Schedule:
  • 2nd Shift, Monday – Thursday, 2:30 PM - 1:00 AM
