Job summary

Columbus McKinnon is seeking a CNC Machine Operator for our Chattanooga, TN facility. You will set up and operate CNC machines in Department 44, perform related production duties including assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting and handwork.

You will read manufacturing prints, measure with calipers and micrometers, document quality checks, and ensure safe, organized work areas. Six months CNC experience is preferred; SAP ERP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of six months CNC machine operation experience.
  • Experience setting up, operating, and adjusting CNC machines.
  • Ability to read manufacturing prints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Proficient in using calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other measuring tools.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long shifts.
  • Experience with SAP ERP is a plus and not required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines and related production equipment.
  • Monitor machine operation and make basic adjustments as needed.
  • Complete production assignments according to work orders and specifications.
  • Perform and document required quality checks.
  • Read manufacturing prints, drawings, and work order packets.
  • Use measuring tools to verify finished products meet specifications.
  • Check and adjust coolant concentrations as needed.
  • Change or replace tooling.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine or production issues.
  • Assist with assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, or handwork as required.
  • Complete required production forms and documentation.
  • Wear required PPE.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary/Overview

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines and other production equipment in Department 44. This position also performs related production duties, including assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, and handwork.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC machines and related production equipment.
  • Monitor machine operation and make basic adjustments as needed.
  • Complete production assignments according to work orders and specifications.
  • Perform and document required quality checks.
  • Read manufacturing prints, drawings, and work order packets.
  • Use measuring tools to verify that finished products meet specifications.
  • Check and adjust coolant concentrations as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of six months of CNC machine operation experience.

  • Ability to read and follow manufacturing prints, drawings, work orders, and production instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor machine or production issues.
  • Ability to safely lift, lower, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Experience with SAP ERP is a plus and not a requirement.
Shift Hours and Overtime
  • Regular schedule is Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
  • Friday overtime may be scheduled starting at 2:00 p.m. for up to eight hours.
  • Overtime may be optional or mandatory depending on production needs.
  • Planned overtime schedules are typically posted at the beginning of each month.
