Job summary

Chromalloy is seeking a CNC Operator in Carson City, NV to program, set up, and operate CNC and conventional machines for precision aerospace components. This role includes tooling creation, offset adjustments, troubleshooting, and quality inspections to support safe, efficient production.

The position supports 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) with a shift differential and a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential to maintain high standards and ISO compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years in setting up and operating CNC machining equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, travelers, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency with gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, tool, and operate CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • Create and install tooling, cutters, grinding wheels, electrodes, and shop aids as required.
  • Adjust machine offsets and modify programs to meet production needs.
  • Apply machining theory and best practices to achieve quality and productivity goals.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to maintain efficiency.
  • Inspect parts using gauges and production specifications to ensure conformance.
  • Read travelers, blueprints, and work instructions; perform secondary operations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area following 5S principles and ISO standards.

Job Summary

We're looking for a CNC Operator to program, set up, and operate CNC equipment used to manufacture precision aerospace components. This hands‑on role is responsible for machine setup, tooling, troubleshooting, quality inspections, and maintaining production standards while supporting a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Shift:

This role is available on our 2nd shift (evening shift), with typical hours of 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.

Shift Differential:

Employees on 2nd shift are eligible for a shift differential of $1–$3 per hour, based on the assigned workday

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Program, set up, tool, and operate CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • Create and install tooling, cutters, grinding wheels, electrodes, and shop aids as required.
  • Adjust machine offsets and make program modifications to support production requirements.
  • Apply machining theory and best practices to achieve quality and productivity objectives.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to maintain efficient operations.
  • Inspect parts using gauges, measuring equipment, and production specifications to ensure conformance.
  • Read and interpret travelers, work instructions, blueprints, and other technical documentation.
  • Perform secondary operations including deburring, grit blasting, and vapor degreasing as required.
  • Complete routine machine maintenance and maintain equipment in proper working condition.
  • Update production logs and manufacturing documentation accurately and on time.
  • Collect and analyze production data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support and mentor fellow operators by sharing knowledge and assisting with problem solving.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Follow all quality, environmental, health, and safety requirements, including ISO/TCS standards.

What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to perform machine setups, tooling changes, offset adjustments, and basic program edits.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, travelers, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machining practices and production processes.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Nice to Have
  • CNC programming experience.
  • CAD/CAM experience or willingness to learn.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
  • Experience mentoring or training less experienced operators
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to machining equipment, moving machinery, noise, and industrial materials.
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and use of hands for machine operation and inspection activities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Close vision, depth perception, and visual focus adjustment required for inspection and machining activities.
