Job summary

Fairfield Chair Co. is seeking a CNC Operator to program, set up and operate CNC equipment in our Lenoir, NC wood-working plant.

The role focuses on producing machined parts to specification, maintaining tooling, and recording quality results. You will translate production orders into machine commands, verify programs, conduct test runs, make adjustments as needed, and ensure consistent output while observing safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Previous CNC experience preferred.
• Must stand for entire shift (8–12 hours).
• Ability to push/pull/lift >70 lbs and work with power tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain and operate CNC machines to perform required tasks.
• Translate scheduled orders into PC commands and verify programming.
• Load plywood, run tests, and adjust machines to meet specs.
• Set machines to produce full orders and monitor execution for quality.
• Inspect and measure finished pieces and sort parts for next phase.
• Maintain and check machinery daily to ensure reliability.

CNC Operator# CNC OperatorPlant 1 Wood Working Plant - Lenoir, NC 28645## OverviewPosition TypeFull Time## DescriptionA CNC operator produces machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Maintaining equipment, adhering to quality and safety standards and keeping detailed part records are some of the core responsibilities of a CNC operator.**Requirements*** Prepares, maintains and operates CNC machines to perform required task* Identifies specific order needed and desired result by following schedule* Translates scheduled order to computer command and correctly enters program into PC* Verifies the program is correctly entered* Prepares and loads plywood into CNC and performs a “test run” to check if the machine produces pieces according to the specifications* Sets machine to produce full order and supervises the correct execution while making adjustments, as necessary, to produce the best result possible* Inspects and measures finished wooden pieces to determined quality and correct measurements* Carefully and accurately sorts the different parts and readies them for the next phase in production* Takes the initiative to check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.## Qualifications**Minimum requirements:**Previous CNC experience highly preferred.**Requirements:*** Must be able to stand on feet and/or walk for entire shift (8 - 12hours)* Must be able to push, pull, balance, lift, and load in excess of 70 pounds constantly to move objects* Good measuring and math skills* Utilize power tools to work on equipment and ability to change bits as required* Ability to enter program into PC and verify information* Accurately separate cut parts according to type
