Caterpillar Channelview, TX is seeking a Project Machine Operator on 2nd shift to set up and run the U5 CNC Milling Machine on large fabrications, weldments and assemblies per prints. The role requires reading engineering drawings, selecting tooling, verifying offsets, performing in-process inspections, and troubleshooting to maintain flow and quality on a fast-paced shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience setting up and operating CNC milling equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
• Knowledge of CNC programming, offsets, tooling, and machine setup.
• Experience operating a U5 CNC Milling Machine or similar large CNC milling equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the U5 CNC Milling Machine to machine large fabricated components and weldments.
• Perform machine setup, work offset verification, tooling selection, and fixture alignment.
• Execute milling, drilling, boring, and finishing operations while maintaining tolerances and quality standards.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
• Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment and make machine offsets or program adjustments as required.
• Perform in-process inspections and troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program-related issues to minimize downtime.
