Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist to prepare and operate CNC machines for drilling, tapping, and milling. You will read part drawings, measure with precision tools, and ensure tolerances are met while maintaining a clean, safe shop environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of machine shop practices, and at least 0–2 years of experience.

• Knowledge of machine shop practices, techniques, operations.
• Basic math, logical reasoning, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform drilling, tapping, milling, etc.
• Recognize tooling and procedures where tolerances are followed.
• Follow detailed instructions and change or mount tools as needed.
• Check work at specific points and adjust machine stops to maintain tolerance.
• Use precision measuring instruments to check and inspect work.
• Recognize and report machine malfunctions and tooling difficulties.
• Assist with setups.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, tapping, milling, etc.
• Recognizing tooling and procedures where tolerances are followed
• Follow detailed instructions, work from standard coding and operational data to change or mount tools and position work pieces
• Check work at specific points; adjust machine and fixture stops to maintain finish and tolerance requirements
• Work from part drawings and use required precision measuring instruments to check and inspect work
• Recognize and report machine malfunctions, tooling difficulties, etc.
• Assist with setups

Work Environment

Well-lit, clean and temperature-controlled machine shop with moderate noise. Staff members will need to be able to work while standing, sitting, bending, and climbing. Staff members will be occasionally lifting and working inside of machines.
