Job Summary

The CNC Mill Operator sets up, operates, and maintains multi‑axis computer numerical control (CNC) mill machines to perform machine functions such as boring, facing, and threading of soft, hard, and graphite material. The operator must be proficient with Haas Fadal, Mikron Heidenhain, and Gibbscam helpful controls for 3, 4, and 5‑axis vertical machines.

Essential Functions

• Perform minor edits on CNC machines, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proof part programs.
• Set up CNC machines by installing and adjusting tools, attachments, collets, and vice.
• Verify machine setup by inspecting and verifying product characteristics are within specification and process tolerances per part‑print specifications, using appropriate measuring devices on the first piece and throughout the process run.
• Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations; take measurements; detect malfunctions; troubleshoot processes; adjust and reprogram controls; sharpen and replace worn tools; adhere to quality assurance procedures.
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
• Maintain tooling and continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Education and Experience

  • Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends, as necessitated by production requirements.
