Job summary

Ultra Machining Company (UMC) in Monticello, MN, is seeking a Turn Machinist for the night shift (Mon-Thu, 4:30 pm–3:00 am). The role focuses on setting up and operating Turn machines, maintaining quality and efficiency, and troubleshooting machining processes.

Requirements include an Associate’s degree in Machining or related field and 2+ years as a machinist; Mori Seiki or DMG Mori Turn experience is preferred. UMC offers PTO, benefits, and a 5% 401(k) match.

• Conduct in-process inspections of machined products, documenting results to ensure products met specifications.
• Assist Machinists in diagnosing and resolving technical issues that arise during machining operations, leveraging analytical problem-solving to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
• Maintain a safe working environment, upholding a proactive safety culture by identifying and addressing potential hazards.

• Mori Seiki or DMG Mori Turn experience preferred.

Skills And Competencies

• Ability to express ideas, share information, listen actively, and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communication.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use hand-held measuring tools.
• Proficient knowledge of GD&T.
• Subject matter expert and “go-to” in assigned machining area, collaborating with other Senior Machinists and Supervisors
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Advanced knowledge of reading G-code and M-code.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to pass annual vision screening.
