Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred or required.
  • 1–3 years CNC lathe experience.
  • Hands-on GibbsCAM programming experience.
  • Strong blueprint-reading and precision-measuring skills.
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances and produce high-quality parts.

Responsibilities

  • Program new and existing jobs using GibbsCAM.
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and comparators.
  • Observe first-run parts to verify programming and setup accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and correct tooling, programming, or equipment issues.
  • Modify CNC programs based on production requirements.
  • Communicate with engineering and toolroom teams regarding drawing or process updates.
  • Maintain setup documentation and repeat-job data.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and improve run times.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards throughout the machining process.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our toolroom team. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC lathe operations, programming with GibbsCAM software, blueprint reading, and precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

Program new and existing jobs using GibbsCAM softwareSet up and operate CNC lathesRead and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specificationsVerify dimensions and tolerances using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and comparatorsObserve first-run parts to verify programming and setup accuracyTroubleshoot and correct tooling, programming, or equipment issuesModify CNC programs based on production requirementsCommunicate with engineering and toolroom teams regarding drawing or process updatesMaintain setup documentation and repeat-job dataIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and improve run timesMaintain quality and safety standards throughout the machining process
