Job summary

BTD Manufacturing in Minnesota is seeking a CNC Operator I to set up and run CNC lathes and mills, ensuring quality and efficient production. You will respond to machine issues, perform offsets and tool changes, and maintain accurate production records while providing training to new machinists.

Summary:Performs machine setups on all CNC equipment to insure quality and the most efficient production process. Responds to problems with machinery and make repairs that are necessary to keep production on line. Performs and records quality assurance checks on parts to insure precise production. Makes offset adjustments and changes inserts when needed. Maintain accurate production reports. Provide direction and training for all machinists. Clean around machines to insure a safe work environment.

Essential Functions:



  1. Must be proficient in essential functions of CNC Operator I

  2. Makes offsets and changes inserts.

  3. Ability to read and edit CNC programs.

  4. Ability to identify cause of tool failure along with the ability to correct it.

  5. Improves efficiencies whenever practical.

  6. Performing machine setups as required on CNC lathes or CNC Mills depending on the area person is specialized in.

  7. Assist with training of new employees.


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Graduation from high school plus completion of a two-year program in machining or equivalent on the job training. OJT must be 3 years or more.


Experience and Skills Required: At least two years of recent related machine shop experience which includes the following skills and abilities:



  1. Considerable knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices used in machining operations.

  2. Considerable knowledge of the manufacturing production process machines.

  3. Considerable knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions.

  4. Considerable knowledge of basic measuring skills in a production environment.

  5. Ability to understand, follow and issue routine oral and written instructions.

  6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Compensation Salary Range: OTC5 $20.60 - $28.83 hourly. The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(K) match, etc.
